Google Product Search results are compiled by the same software Google use to compile results for its main index at Google.com, in order of relevance, and they have not used this as an excuse to choke it with paid advertising either. Just as Google does, Google Product Search displays keyword relevant Adwords alongside its product listings.

That said those that rank well on Google for certain terms will not necessarily see those results translate well onto rankings in Google Product Search.

As its software crawls the web, Google Product Search automatically identifies products for sale and the picture, price, and category associated with each product. Google Product Search may occasionally make incorrect assumptions about content, resulting in a mismatch between products and images. While we continuously fine tune this process, the best way to ensure accuracy is to provide us with a data feed that you know to contain the most up-to-date and accurate information about your products.

There are two ways you can get included in Google Product Search:

The first, though not the most effective is to let Google or Google Product Search crawl your site and pick up the information for itself. This is likely to result in inaccuracies in your product listing.

The second, and more effective way is to submit a data feed directly to Google Product Search. Create an Account With Google Product Search

To be eligible to submit a feed, you must sell products via your website and ship them to the buyer. If you sell services or custom products that do not have fixed prices, use your website only to promote an offline business, or are an affiliate marketing site, your site content may be crawled by and included in Google s web search, but it will not be included in Google Product Search. Nor will Google Product Search accept a data feed under these conditions.

To remove your sites from Google Product Search just create a robots.txt file. However by doing this you are removing our site from all Google search services including Google s web and image searches. To remove certain products from the data feed:

Set the expiry date of the offer to some predefined date or

Create and send an update file with the products marked for delete.

Or when you send in the next feed remove those products completely.
