I have a testimonial video that I uploaded to my youtube channel. I also would like to post it to my site. Does it make any difference for seo if I upload video to my site or use an embed link from you tube?

I think you should also upload this video to your website in the place of using embeded link from YouTube. With a video people will easily understand about your business and products.
