Is This A Valid Strategy?

I have kicked this strategy around for a few weeks, thought I would ask the experts.

Can I purchase another domain name, say for example ""Family-cruises"" dot whatever. Build the content on that website to be solely focused on the ins and outs of cruising with family, tips, tricks, best lines, best ships etc. Call out that the information was provided by (my company.com) and have links for a customer to link over to my site to look at more detailed cruises, or check prices etc? No sneeky redirects, just a legitimate page with valueable content provided as a service and have links to our site. I would do this for 10-20 different names that I could legitimately create valuable content for.

Is this a valid strategy, or not worth the trouble?

This looks like a valid strategy to me. you can go ahead and do that. Big sites do this all the time and no search engines are going to ban your site for this.
