Link farm are those companies who sell you back links to your website for money.Google strongly
recommends not to deal with this farms.

A link farm is a web page (or even an entire website) that is set up for the sole purpose of allowing webmasters to exchange links with each other for search engine ranking purposes only.

As per my seo experience, Link farm is called as Black Hat seo techniques. I strongly avoid this type of techniques. It gives us fast effect but I always love to use only White hat techniques.

Link farm means a group of links which we share it in other website, an idea behind link farm is increase number of website that link to our website and get good page rank by that inbound links. But search engine consider link farm as Spam.
