The new feature will send email in the background, and the user could do multitasking while the email is being sent. One should turn it on from the Labs tab in settings and Gmail will send your email silently and also allows you to check your inbox, compose new message and chat with people simultaneously. You could also send more than one mail at a time in the background. But make sure that you close your Gmail or shut down your computer only after the mail is sent otherwise you will lose your message.
