DUPLICATE DOMAINS

Duplicate content has been in talks for a very long time. Google has openly admitted that duplicate content on your site will not get you penalized but it doesn't help much in ranking. Just because of this, people use duplicate content extensively on their sites. Duplicate content occurs in various forms but here the problem is with duplicate content across multiple domains. Duplicate content across domains can occur naturally but can also be inflicted artificially.

There are no valid reasons why someone would want to have duplicate domains unless it's to spam the search engines. As described in the duplicate content, post duplicate domains cause problems for search engines. When someone owns 100 websites and they want to substantially duplicate content across different websites, search engine take the pain to crawl 100 websites and their algorithm has to detect the duplication and penalize the website. It's too much work for the search engines.
