Spam blogs came into existence in the late 2003 and beginning of 2004. It was a strategy picked by aggressive Search Engine marketers to promote their sites or client sites. Lots of blogs were registered in sites like blogspot.com, blogdrive.com, blog-city.com, livejournal.com and some junk contents was posted to increase the backlinks which would in turn help the ranking of a website. These spam blogs don't have any value to users, they are either to promote affiliate links, promote search marketer's client sites , for Adsense or for some other purpose that has no value to users. Contents on these blogs were meant to impress the search engines and not the users.
Some contents came from other popular blogs which were just copy paste or in other words stolen content, some contents come from blog scrapping (scrapping other blogs) and some came from some gibberish softwares.
