KEYWORD STUFFING
Keyword stuffing is the method of stuffing 100s and 1000s of junk and obscured words on a web page to inflate search engine rankings. People had been stuffing keywords on their pages for many years to impress the search engines. There are various methods of keyword stuffing. Contents in Meta tags, on page contents, Noscript tags, noembed tags, no frames tag etc.
Search engines virtually stopped indexing and ranking Meta tags where keywords are supposed to be added. They did this because of extreme abuse by people to inflate search engine rankings. Formerly meta tags were the primary source of spider food now except meta description no other content rich tags are used for indexing and ranking purpose. Even the Meta description tag is used for a snippet purpose rather than for any other valid reason.
No scripts, no embed, no frames tag are used by search engines because they never used to crawl frames or script or embedded videos. Nowadays they crawl everything so these tags are rarely used but they are still used as a haven to stuff keywords. Keywords in contents are another visible method where a page is loaded with 100s of keywords to make the search engines understand the page is very relevant. Nowadays almost all keyword stuffing is ignored or devalued by major search engines. Most search engines use much more sophisticated methods than just reading pages.
Keyword stuffing is still in existence. But most of the search engines today are highly sophisticated and they can easily detect this sort of spam. In most cases they impose a simple penalty on the site or just ignore stuffed keywords on the page. The web is too big now for the search engines to read details on each and every page. But most of the keyword stuffing doesn't work anymore with major search engines.
